DURHAM, NC (Aug. 21, 2024) — Ahead of the 2024 General Election, Southern Coalition for Social Justice (SCSJ) will host its Student Media Elections Workshop to provide nonpartisan electoral training for college-aged journalists.
The three-part workshop is aimed to help student journalists new to covering elections and will feature SCSJ lawyers and voting rights and elections experts and advocates. The sessions will be held over Zoom from 2 to 3 p.m. and are open to all student journalists. Topics include: Elections 101; Dockets, Filings, Hearings: How to Navigate Legal and Political Tools; and Covering Campus Issues: From Voter ID to Voter Intimidation. The series kicks off Sept. 18.
